I want to get LASIK, and praying like hell that I'll be eligible for it. The consult is on Monday. Anyone else here had that before?

I wanted it, but my eyes are too far nearsighted for conventional LASIK. :(

I explained "i have lost the ability to can" and "because of reasons" to my dad at dinner today. It was quite surreal.

Whee. An author whose books I was considering getting apparently considers that people with disabilities are entitled for wanting to be able to get the e-copy of the last WOT book at the same time as everyone else. Oh, and we should just learn to cut up books and read on our bellies because that would totes solve the problem.

I have not been this pissed off in a very long fucking time. I am pretty angry because this person (Nick Mamatas) was recommended as being good on SJ issues. And he was one of the main people defending Genevieve Valentine when that shit went all down, but fucking seriously? That doesn't give you to be a license to be a dick.

And the commenters are basically saying that those of us who are disabled in the comments are just strawmen. Yeah. Nice.
