What Are You Reading/Watching/Playing?
ME - But why?

What are you reading/playing/watching right now? What do you like about it, and what do you dislike? Would you recommend whatever it is you're currently consuming?

Alternatively, if you're searching for recommendations, ask here! Whether you're in the mood for a feminist friendly science fiction read or a good survival horror game, other members of feminist_geeks an provide some suggestions.

I'm watching Psych and it's wonderful.
I'm reading Harry Potter y la orden del fenix.

I need more horror and surreal games to play. I enjoy mainstream and indie stuff. Recently I got into a game called "off". It's kind of like "Space Funeral".

Have you played Ib (http://vgboy.dabomstew.com/other/ib.htm)? It's an RPGMaker horror game about a young girl who gets lost in an art museum. If you've ever played Yume Nikki, it has a similar feel to it but more of a story. (I haven't got very far into it yet though so I don't know if there's any content that needs warning for, although from what I've read I dont think there is.)

Yes! It was very good. I played it either 2 or 3 times. I also played Witch's House which is a lot like ib.

I'm about 6 hours in to Ni no Kuni and I love it so far, and I'm almost done with season 1 of The Borgias.

Icon buddies! :D
That's a lovely fanart, where did you get it?

Melia! Happy coincidence because I'm currently playing Xenoblade and loving it (though the fridging at the beginning of the game pissed me off). I'm aaaaalmost to the Mechonis capital.

Yeah I was really pissed off when that happened, but at least she got to go out being incredibly awesome which is more than you can say for most things that kill off the love interest, especially so early :P

And it redeems itself in spades later on! I really love how it handles its female characters (all of its characters really), it does have some problematic bits but it's generally quite excellent. (I can't remember the exact order of stuff that happens in that section of the game, it's been about a year since I finished my playthrough, so I don't wanna say too much in case of spoilers haha ;D)

Agreed on both counts! I was pleasantly surprised that Sharla, the healer character, is not your typical healer: strong personality, uses a gun with ether bullets to heal, and she's a POC to boot.

When I first started playing, I couldn't really see why people though it was the best JRPG in recent years. After I got to the Bionis leg, I could see the appeal. When I got through Eryth Sea/Alcamoth, I was hooked and I knew why people were praising the game so much!

That was pretty much my experience too, getting hooked at Bionis Leg. (I bought a Wii for The Last Story, picked up Xenoblade just on a whim, and wound up enjoying Xenoblade much, much more than TLS.)

Oh a Melia yay hi-five! (Sorry for the late response!)

The original source is here. :)

I just finished The Hobbit last week. ;~~~~~~~~~~~; So I started reading The Fellowship of the Ring for more research.

Playing Radiant Historia and enjoying it! Although the having to fast-forward through bits of the game that you've already played is a little tedious. I'm at least glad they thought to include a fast-forward bit for that very reason, though.

Watching: Just got into Season 4 of Fringe, and I still love it.

Reading a lot of Joyce Carol Oates, disturbing and generally feminism-friendly.
